About Terre Lefferts

Terre Lefferts Having lived in NYC, Maine and northwestern CT, Terre is drawn to the pastoral or coastal settings of each area. She has exhibited in Belvoir Gallery in Millbrook, NY, Cry of the Loon Gallery in Casco,Me, Duck Trap Bay Trading Company in Camden, Me and John Edwards Gallery in Ellsworth, Me. She has been affiliated with Von Maassen Interiors, Amenia, NY, Judith Hardenbrook painted furniture in Biddeford, Me, Farnsworth Museum gift shop, Rockland, Me, It’s Ornamental, Redding Road Hose- 40 ft. Mural in Redding,CT, and Joanna’s Designs, Greenwich, CT. She has painted theater back drops including Peter & the Wolf, Midsummer’s Day Night, Peer Gynt, and Coppellia. She has had numerous solo shows including: Noble Horizons, Salisbury CT, PD Walsh’s, Falls Village CT, NW CT Community College, Winsted, CT, Sharon CT Historical Society, The Dig, Millerton, NY, Sweet Williams, Salisbury,CT, North East Library in Millerton, NY, Berkshire Co-op, JWS, and the Marketplace in Great Barrington, MA, also The Local in West Cornwall, CT. She has studied art with Samir Barber, Betty Taylor, David Dunlop, Susan Godwin, John Lundquist and at the Museum school of Art in Boston, MA. Terres dual career began with dance and art. Her art career started in a needle point shop in Greenwich, Ct, which led to commission work, collaboration with interior designers, and murals in NY and CT. She then attained her BA from NYU in dance & theater, and continued to perform, choreograph and teach dance for 30 years in NYC, Massachusetts, Maine and CT. She moved to Maine, teaching dance at Bates College, Bowdoin College, and dance companies in Portland, while raising a family with her husband. During this time she reestablished her art career, creating paintings that were featured at various galleries including those listed above. Family illness brought her back to CT, where she changed course and attained an AS in physical therapy as well as licensed massage therapy, starting in 2013. Having worked on the front lines with Covid patients for over years, enabling them to breathe, stand and walk again has given her a deep appreciation for beauty in all life. She continually shows her artwork, takes commissions and strives to paint beauty as much as possible.
